Friday 17/07/2020 19:00 MEDIA Case Studies: Co-Production Masterclass with Maria Drandaki
We are partnering with Creative Europe Desk GR to present this funding and information session with Maria Drandaki from Homemade Films is an Athens-based film production and distribution company - one of the most interesting producers on the European map right now.
Minority co-productions are often considered beneficial to the national/local industry because they stimulate the internationalization of the national film industry (exchange of film professionals/good practices), can bring inward investments (e.g. fiscal incentives) and open new markets (especially if there is an artistic cooperation: actors/locations/story etc.).
Maria will discuss the case for co-production: Are co-productions an opportunity or a challenge? when is it worth it, what can you offer, what are the benefits and what are the misconceptions?

After working for several years as a producer and a communication and development manager in film and television, Maria Drandaki founded her own production label Homemade Films in 2009.
With a taste for sharp, cutting edge, innovative cinema, Maria has produced and co-produced several successful short and feature films, which participated and won awards in many international film festivals (Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno, Toronto, Rotterdam, IDFA, EFA, BAFTA, Palm Springs, etc.) and got distributed in movie theaters, tv-channels and platforms around the world.
Her credits include internationally acclaimed feature films by Syllas Tzoumerkas (Homeland, A Blast, The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea) and Yorgos Zois (Interruption), multi-awarded short films Limbo and Electric Swan by Konstantina Kotzamani and A Drowning Man by Mahdi Fleifel, and debut feature films The Gulf by Emre Yeksan and Her Job by Nikos Labôt.
Her in-development projects include the upcoming feature films by Yorgos Zois, Mladen Djordjevic, Elina Psykou, Sofia Exarchou and Syllas Tzoumerkas, and debut feature films by Konstantina Kotzamani, Christos Passalis, Margot Schaap, Ian Waugh and Nikos Kyritsis.
She is a member of the EAVE and ACE producers’ networks and the Greek Producers’ Alliance.
