Working with the Right Agent
Τhe Psarokokalo Pro and Creative Europe Media Desk Greece present “Working with the Right Agent ”, a panel discussion where the distributors of short films and representatives of highly acclaimed festival strategy agencies will introduce their work to local filmmakers and international guests.
The presentation and dialogue aim to give valuable insight on how a short film finds international distribution, the importance of developing a successful festival strategy and how this can influence the future careers of filmmakers. This is the first time that local filmmakers, both established and upcoming, will get an insider’s view on short film distribution!!

Panelist
Katie McCullough
Katie graduated from Bournemouth Media School with a degree in Scriptwriting for Film & TV and is also a graduate of the London Royal Court Young Writer’s and Invitation Only Groups. For seventeen years and counting she has provided strategy and submissions support to filmmakers worldwide, resulting in creating the consultancy brand Festival Formula in 2014. As an active member of the Short Film Conference and the Film Festival Alliance, Katie is also a key spokesperson on festival issues with coverage in The Hollywood Reporter and Screen Daily regarding suspect and fraudulent film festivals. She co-created the Filmmaker Lounge in partnership with Film Festival Alliance – an online space for programmers and filmmakers to discuss their roles. Previous guests include: Tribeca, Slamdance, PÖFF Shorts, and many more. Previous speaking engagements include: HollyShorts, Heartland Film Festival, BFI Flare, Encounters Film Festival, Flickers Rhode Island Film Festival, Sundance, SXSW and many more
Millán Vázquez

Millán Vázquez (Spain, 1978) is co-founder and managing director of Agencia Freak Independent Film Agency. He has been involved in distribution for 22 years, developing his work mainly around film festivals and markets. Through the years, the short films distributed by Freak have achieved thousands of selections and awards at all kinds of festivals worldwide. As an entrepreneur, Millán Vázquez has participated in the creation of the sales company Feelsales and the distribution platforms Feelmakers.com and Uptofest.com.
In parallel with his job at Freak, Millán is an eventual film producer, market coordinator and teacher. He is a regular profesor invited at EICTV School in Cuba. Since 2019, Millán has been a member of the Spanish Academy of Cinema Arts and Science.

Maria Hatzakou
Maria Hatzakou is a film writer/director, producer, based in Athens, Greece. She was awarded a BA in Film and Video at the London College of Printing before going on to work extensively as a film programmer, at the Athens International Film Festival (2000-2004), and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (co-coordinating the “Independence Days” section, 2005-2008). In 2007, she joined Haos Film — a pioneering filmmaker-run production and post-production studio based in Athens, founded by Greek director Athina Rachel Tsangari — as a producer. She has worked closely with Athina Rachel Tsangari on a number of projects. “Attenberg”, her first producer credit, premièred in main competition at the Venice Film Festival. In 2012, she produced Tsangari’s “The Capsule”, that premièred at dOCUMENTA(13) in Kassel, and went on to screen in competition at the Locarno, Toronto and Sundance Film festivals. In 2013, she produced “24 Frames Per Century”, Tsangari’s sci-fi short for the Venice Film Festival’s commemorative anniversary project “Venezia 70 — Future Reloaded”. Their latest feature production, “Chevalier” won Best Film at the BFI London Film Festival In addition to her work with Tsangari, she has collaborated with a variety of directors and artists. She co-produced Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Alps”, which premièred in main competition at the 2011 Venice Film Festival. In 2011, she was selected to take part in the European Film Promotion’s “Producers on the Move” forum, held at the Cannes Film Festival. And in 2016 and 2017, she acted as a script consultant for the Faliro House Sundance Mediterranean Screenwriter Workshop, hosted in Greece by producer Christos V. Konstantakopoulos in partnership with Athina Rachel Tsangari. She is the creator and co-writer (with Alkis Papastathopoulos) of the comedy series Sleepover (currently in development). Sleepover won the HBO Europe Award for best project at the Sarajevo F.F. (2018) and was the first international project selected at the Episodic Lab of the Sundance Institute (2019). Her first short film as a writer/director titled AMYGDALA is currently traveling to film festivals around the world. She is also in development of her first feature film.
