Michalis Argyrou

Visual Artist & Cultural Strategist I Greece

Michalis Argyrou is a visual artist, creative director, and scenographer. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, at the independent photography studies workshop Focus, and at the Royal College of Art in London. He is the founder of the event organization company “Sambo Events”, the cultural management company “LineCulture”, and the architectural office “Create New Ideas Architects.” He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has curated, organized, and designed numerous performances and cultural events, as well as architectural projects. From 2006 to 2008, he served as Director of the international contemporary art fair “Art Athina.” From 2009 to 2020, he created the Beton7 Art and Culture Center, a venue that became a hub for new ideas and trends in contemporary art and culture. In 2011, he founded beton7artradio, “we speak art,” a radio station dedicated to art and culture, highlighting contemporary artistic creation. He also participates as a producer, hosting the program titled “Ego to Teras” (Me, the Monster). From 2015 to 2018, he served as Director in Greece of the “Hellas Filmbox Berlin” Greek Film Festival, founded in the spring of 2015 with the aim of introducing German audiences to contemporary and artistically significant Greek cinema. From 2016 to 2019, he was Co-Director of the “Athens Biennale”.The Athens Biennale operates within an international network of large-scale periodic contemporary art events. It emerged from the growing cultural activity that has established Athens as one of the most interesting locations for contemporary art and aims to function as a continuous force for change and renewal, a framework for creativity and dialogue, and a broad platform for showcasing artistic production and engaging with the international art scene and culture. He is Co-Director of the international exhibition of independent art platforms “Platforms Project.” From 2013 to 2026, the exhibition has presented platform-based artistic actions from groups representing more than 41 countries, featuring over 7,200 artists from five continents, fostering unexpected dialogues around culture and art. Since 2024, he has been Co-Founder of the art space “Splitart Project”, a new venue in the center of Vienna. Designed by art professionals, the space was created to host new proposals across the full spectrum of contemporary artistic creation, including visual arts, performance, video, cinema, fashion, as well as projects from the field of applied arts. In February 2025, he founded Mavili Theatre. Located in Mavili Square, one of the most vibrant and busy areas of Athens, it is the first theatre space established in the square, aspiring to become a new hub of cultural life in the city center. “Theatrο Mavili” is conceived as a space for contemporary artistic creation, centered on theatre and open dialogue with performance, dance, music, and theoretical discourse. Special emphasis is placed on new Greek dramaturgy, contemporary forms of theatrical storytelling, and the coexistence of diverse artistic approaches from Greece and abroad.

Esy Casey

Esy Casey is a filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist. Her film ‘A Movement Against the Transparency of the Stars of the Seas’ was nominated in 2024 for Best Short by the International Documentary Association, screened in competition at IDFA and the Busan International Video Art Festival and is streaming on The Criterion Channel. She is the recipient of awards and fellowships from organizations including NYSCA, The Ford Foundation, Flaherty, The New York Film Festival, MacDowell, Yaddo, The Center for Asian American Media, and The Princess Grace Foundation USA.

Néstor López Ferreira

Filmmaker & Producer I Spain, Portugal

Néstor López Ferreira (1992) is a Spanish-Portuguese filmmaker and producer. He has directed short films such as Seeds From Kivu and Polygon X. He is the founder of the production company Filmakers Monkeys, with which he has produced 42 short films and 5 feature films to date. He is a three-time winner of the Goya Awards, including Best Documentary Short Film for Seeds From Kivu, which was also longlisted for the Academy Awards and selected for Les Nuits en Or of the César Awards. His work has also been recognized with the Forqué Awards, the Paul Naschy Award, and awards at New York Shorts International Film Festival, among others. As a director, he has been selected for prestigious programs such as IDFAcademy, Ji.hlava Academy, and the CineMart shortlist at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. He was also named among the Top Creatives in the Forbes list in 2024 and selected for programs such as Cine Qua Non Lab, the Ibero-American Project Development Course, and Meditalents. As a producer, his work has been awarded at the Berlin International Film Festival Co-Production Market, received the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival, been shortlisted for the Academy Awards (Live Action Short Film), and selected for the Official Selection of the Venice Film Festival. He is also a film professor at ECAM and has served as a jury member at festivals such as Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid SEMINCI 2023.

Arshia Shakiba

Filmmaker & Cinematographer I Canada

Arshia Shakiba is a Montréal-based filmmaker and cinematographer, and a graduate of the Toronto Film School. He began his career creating music videos for Iranian underground rock bands before transitioning to documentary filmmaking. His work includes WHO LOVES THE SUN, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival where it won the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film and was later selected for TIFF’s Canada’s Top Ten. His films have screened at leading international festivals including Venice, TIFF, and Clermont-Ferrand, and have received multiple honours, including Prix Iris awards at the Gala Québec Cinéma and the Best Cinematography Award at the Mirage Festival, judged by Roger Deakins. His work often explores themes of conflict and the human condition.
